With my first pregnancy my husband and I chose to work with a midwife and deliver our son at home. I had a great pregnancy and was excited to welcome our son into the world with a natural, medication free, hospital free, relaxing home birth. But due to complications at our 39 week visit our midwife suggested we visit the hospital for further evaluation. Upon arriving we were told he was running out of amniotic fluid due to his size and that we would have no choice but to deliver in the hospital. It was devastating. Our experience went from bad to worse and soon reached traumatic. This was our first pregnancy and we were completely ignorant to how a hospitals worked and what options we had. We didn’t agree with A LOT of their recommendations and suffered greatly because of it.
Now in our second pregnancy and closing in on our due date, my husband and I are determined to learn from our first experience and use it to better our second delivery.
